United States secure narrow victory over Haiti in Concacaf Gold Cup

According to ESPN, the United States national team — under coach Mauricio Pochettino — achieved a 2-1 victory over Haiti in the Concacaf Gold Cup match in Arlington, Texas.

Malik Tillman and Patrick Agyemang emerged as victory heroes with one goal each. This result ensures USA advances to quarter-finals as Group D winners, where they will face either Costa Rica or Mexico.

Tillman opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a header from Brenden Aaronson’s cross. Haiti equalized through Louicius Deedson in the 19th minute, capitalizing on goalkeeper Matthew Freese’s error. Agyemang finally scored the decisive goal 15 minutes before the end.

“Malik is difficult to define as a player. Just look at his incredible talent. He can play in various positions — as a number 10, on the right or left side, even as a midfielder,” praised Pochettino.

Despite his team conceding due to Freese’s mistake, Pochettino maintained full support for his goalkeeper. The Argentine coach also praised Agyemang’s performance, which was deemed to have made a significant contribution to the team.
