Under Erick Thohir PSSI hasn’t held Indonesia Cup and Women’s League 1

Erick Thohir as PSSI chairman — who has been serving since February 2023 after replacing Mochamad Iriawan following the Kanjuruhan tragedy — still has several important notes in his leadership.

Despite his experience as former Inter Milan President and his position as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, significant changes in domestic football — especially regarding competitions — haven’t been optimal.

PSSI’s current focus leans more towards player naturalization programs, while local competitions — which only rely on League 1 and lower divisions — remain underdeveloped.

Unlike neighboring countries that have various competitions such as FA Cup and League Cup, Indonesia hasn’t resumed the Indonesia Cup — which was last held about six years ago.
