UAE follows Iraq’s protest over World Cup 2026 qualification host selection

According to UAE.NT’s official Instagram page, the United Arab Emirates joins Iraq in protesting the host selection process for the World Cup 2026 qualification fourth round — scheduled for this October.

While AFC hasn’t made an official announcement, various media sources indicate Qatar and Saudi Arabia as strong host candidates — a situation that has triggered objections from several participating nations.

“The UAE Football Association requests FIFA and AFC to maintain neutrality in selecting the host nation for Asian playoff matches determining World Cup 2026 qualification,” states UAE’s official announcement.

“This request emphasizes the importance of fairness and transparency in the selection process, and that decisions must comply with regulations guaranteeing the rights of all participating national teams in the Asian playoffs.”

Besides submitting the protest, UAE has also expressed its willingness to host the fourth round qualifications.
