Two defenders leave, Elkan Baggott gets big opportunity at Ipswich Town

Elkan Baggott gets a greater chance to break into Ipswich Town’s first team — the club has lost two center-backs during this summer’s transfer window.

The Indonesian national team defender who stands at 196 cm has just completed a productive loan spell at Blackpool. Due to his strong performance, Ipswich Town decided to extend Baggott’s contract which was set to expire this season.

The Blues now face a tough challenge in the Championship Division — a competition with a more congested schedule of 46 league matches per season. The need for player rotation becomes more urgent after two center-backs chose to depart:

  • Cameron Burgess to Swansea City
  • Axel Tuanzebe to Burnley
