Turkey Ready to Replace Madrid as F1 2026 Host

According to Motorsport.com, Turkey has declared its readiness to host Formula 1 racing in 2026 if Madrid’s new circuit isn’t completed on schedule.

Madrid’s Madring circuit featuring 22 turns — including a banked corner — must be completed before May 30, 2026. However, its construction faces challenges from local political groups.

TOSFED President Eren Uclertopragı confirms that Istanbul Park — now managed by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation — stands ready to take over the slot. Nevertheless, they prefer securing a long-term agreement.

“We don’t want to be just a replacement like during the pandemic. Our goal is to secure a permanent place in the F1 calendar through a long-term contract,” stated Uclertopragı.

Istanbul Park offers several strategic advantages — ideal location for F1 teams, favorable September weather, and significant spectator potential from neighboring countries within 2-3 hours flight radius.

This plan has received full support from the Turkish government, including the President, Minister of Tourism and Culture, and Minister of Youth and Sports — who guarantee all race-related payments and procedures.
