Tsutomu Ogura Steps Down as Singapore National Team Coach

According to FAS official announcement, Tsutomu Ogura has submitted his resignation as Singapore national team head coach — a surprising decision given the team’s recent achievements.

The Japanese coach joined Singapore about 1.5 years ago — but decided to terminate his contract early due to urgent matters in his home country.

This decision draws attention as it comes shortly after Singapore national team recorded an important victory over Bangladesh in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers — a result that placed them at the top of Group C standings.

“After discussions with the FAS Executive Committee, we understand and respect Ogura’s decision to step down due to personal reasons requiring his presence in Japan,” stated the official FAS announcement.
