Tsunoda Misses Q3 at British GP Due to Technical Issues

Yuki Tsunoda faced disappointing technical issues during British GP qualifying — missing out on Q3 due to power unit problems in his final lap.

The Red Bull driver will start the race from P11 after Oliver Bearman’s grid penalty is applied — just a tenth of a second shy of the time needed to advance to Q3.

“I lost power when starting the final lap. I lost about a tenth in Turn 3 all the way to the main straight. Several acceleration boosts weren’t working in the last push,” Tsunoda explained.

Despite technical challenges, the Japanese driver expressed satisfaction with his performance progress:

“Really happy with the progress I’ve had. This was the cleanest race weekend we’ve had so far. The confidence and everything… Car felt good in qualifying.”

Compared to his Austria result starting from P18, P11 at Silverstone offers better hopes for scoring points — something Tsunoda hasn’t achieved with Red Bull team in a while.
