Tsunoda hopes Canadian GP becomes turning point in his Red Bull career

Yuki Tsunoda hopes this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix becomes a moment to turn around his Formula 1 fortunes in the 2025 season — the Japanese driver is aware of the consequences if he fails to perform optimally.

After being promoted to Red Bull team following the Chinese GP for his home race at Suzuka, Tsunoda’s performance with the main team has been inconsistent — he struggles to control the RB21 car.

Red Bull gave Tsunoda an opportunity to test the championship-winning RB19 car after the Barcelona round to enhance his understanding of their machinery characteristics.

“As long as I don’t perform well, I know what’s going to happen. I’m confident I can come back strong. I’ve improved many things in recent races,” said Tsunoda.

The 25-year-old driver spent time at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes factory to better adapt. After testing the RB19 and conducting Pirelli tire tests, Tsunoda revealed there were some “benefits” from the dominant 2023 car he’d like to implement — though the differences weren’t too significant.
