Trinity Rodman returns to Washington Spirit training after injury

According to ProSoccerWire, United States forward Trinity Rodman has rejoined Washington Spirit training sessions for the first time after a three-month absence due to a back injury.

The Olympic gold medalist only participated in half of last Saturday’s session — then continued with individual training when the team conducted 11-versus-11 games.

USWNT coach Emma Hayes stated to ESPN: “She’s in great spirits, and I know we’re moving in the right direction with Trin.”

The NWSL is currently on a month-long break due to international competitions. Spirit is scheduled to play friendly matches this month before returning to regular competition on August 3.

Regarding her injury condition, Rodman acknowledged: “My back will probably never be the way it was in my rookie year. It’s more about management than a complete cure.”

The 23-year-old player has been a free agent since July 1 — with Spirit owner Michele Kang emphasizing that the club will do everything possible to retain her services.
