Kota Takai Joins Tottenham in Record Move from J-League

According to Bolasport.com, Kota Takai has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur in a €5.8 million deal — setting a new record as the most expensive local player ever transferred from the J-League.

The 20-year-old center-back signed a long-term contract with Spurs until June 2030, after leaving his former club, Kawasaki Frontale.

“I played with Kawasaki Frontale in the J-League on Saturday, flew the next day, and here I am today!” said Takai in his first interview as a Tottenham player.

The transfer deal had actually been agreed upon two weeks ago, but the official announcement was delayed until Takai completed his final match in the J-League a few days ago.
