Tottenham Hotspur Win 2024/2025 Europa League: Johnson’s Lone Goal Sinks the Red Devils

Tottenham Hotspur closed their season in spectacular fashion. In the UEFA Europa League final 2024/2025 held at San Mames Stadium, Bilbao, on Thursday (May 22) early morning WIB, Spurs edged out Manchester United 1-0 to lift their long-awaited European trophy. The all-English final was intense from the first whistle. Tottenham attacked with high intensity, but Manchester United held firm at the back and responded with sharp counterattacks.

The crucial moment came in the 41st minute. Just when the game seemed stuck in a stalemate, Pape Matar Sarr whipped in a dangerous cross from the left. The ball found Brennan Johnson, who had slipped past his marker. His powerful finish beat Andre Onana, giving Tottenham the lead right before halftime. The goal energized Spurs while forcing United to push forward in the second half.

Manchester United came out with more urgency. Bruno Fernandes tested goalkeeper Vicario with a powerful free-kick, but it was expertly parried away. Tottenham brought on Son Heung-min to add more firepower. One of the most dramatic moments came when Rasmus Hojlund’s header looked destined for the net, only for Micky van de Ven to produce a heroic bicycle-kick clearance on the goal line.

United kept pressing. Fernandes’ header went narrowly wide, and Garnacho’s low drive was saved by Vicario. But despite their relentless attacks, they couldn’t find the equalizer. When the final whistle blew, Tottenham were crowned Europa League champions. That night, Bilbao bore witness to their rise as a new European force. One goal, one trophy, one new chapter in Spurs’ history.
