Tottenham Hotspur Signs Young Japanese Defender Kota Takai

Tottenham Hotspur has announced the signing of Japanese defender Kota Takai from J-League club Kawasaki Frontale — the young player has penned a five-year contract.

While the transfer fee remains undisclosed officially, trusted sources indicate that Spurs paid around £5 million to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Takai — who has earned four caps with the Japan national team and featured in last year’s Paris Olympics — marks the first signing under new manager Thomas Frank.

Meanwhile, Spurs are reportedly preparing to submit an improved offer for West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus after their initial £50 million bid was rejected — despite the player’s release clause standing at £85 million.
