Toto Wolff Reveals Relationship with Lewis Hamilton After Ferrari Move

According to Bloomberg Hot Pursuit, Mercedes CEO and Team Principal Toto Wolff has spoken about his relationship with Lewis Hamilton who now races for Ferrari in the 2025 season.

After 12 years with Mercedes and six world championship titles, Hamilton decided to join the Italian team. Wolff emphasizes — while they now compete fiercely on track, they maintain their close friendship.

“You always have to miss a person like Lewis Hamilton. We’re still close friends and have promised to stay that way,” states Wolff.

At his new team alongside Monégasque driver Charles Leclerc, Hamilton continues adapting to the Ferrari car — currently sitting sixth in the standings with 79 points.

“It’s an Italian team and he’s a British guy who just joined — it takes time. But never underestimate Lewis Hamilton. In the second half of the season, he’s always very strong,” adds Wolff.

Wolff believes — changing teams doesn’t automatically diminish Hamilton’s abilities. He suggests every driver needs time to adapt to different car DNA, new technical team, and car development that suits their driving style.
