Regarding V10 engine discussions emerging nine months before new hybrid engine regulations take effect, Wolff stated that Mercedes remains open to various future options. “We’re ready to discuss whether it’s V8, V10, or other hybrid systems — what matters is proper governance in decision-making,” he explained.

Concerning the team’s future, George Russell remaining unsigned for 2026 is a key focus. “It’s almost an open secret that we intend to keep our drivers for the long term,” Wolff revealed.

Wolff also discussed the decision to sign Kimi Antonelli:

  • Decided immediately after Hamilton’s move to Ferrari

  • Involved discussions with Mercedes leadership

  • Considered between young or experienced driver options

  • Confident in Antonelli’s speed and values

Regarding Mercedes’ 2025 car performance, Wolff acknowledged that the new platform is more stable than last year — though still requiring refinement in terms of a wider operating window.

“It is a more stable platform. It is not like last year where the rear was the weak point and the front the strong — now it goes more hand in hand,” Wolff explained.

Wolff also welcomed Stefano Domenicali’s contract extension as F1 CEO for another five years, emphasizing the importance of stability in sport leadership. With multiple teams undergoing transitions, continuity at the top level is expected to provide a solid foundation for Formula 1’s long-term growth and development.
