Tosin Adarabioyo defends Cole Palmer from criticism ahead of Club World Cup

Tosin Adarabioyo has offered full support to his teammate Cole Palmer who faces criticism over his performance — calling Palmer a “little superstar” who will shine at the Club World Cup.

Chelsea will depart from their Miami training camp to Charlotte for their round of 16 clash against Benfica — after finishing second in Group D. Palmer, who was unused in the 3-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis, has indeed experienced a dip in form during the second half of this season.

“I’ve known Cole since he was a young boy, so seeing him on those big banners makes me very proud,” said Adarabioyo. “People forget that he’s still 23 years old and is one of the faces of this tournament.”

“I banter with him sometimes and call him a little superstar. But he handles it very well. His focus on football is brilliant,” he added.

Adarabioyo, now 27 years old, is one of the senior players in Chelsea’s squad — having previously played with Palmer in Manchester City’s youth team and spent four years at Fulham before moving to Stamford Bridge.
