Toronto FC Terminates Contract with Former Juventus Star Bernardeschi

Toronto FC has announced the termination of their partnership with Federico Bernardeschi — the former Juventus player who served as their designated player since mid-2022.

The MLS club utilized one of their two permitted contract buyout options per season. Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez stated this decision was reached following internal discussions with the player.

“After discussions with Federico, we agreed this was the right moment to part ways,” said Hernandez.

The 31-year-old boasts an impressive career record — appearing 134 times for Juventus over five years with eight goals and 15 assists. Bernardeschi also represented Italy’s national team 39 times, including being part of the Euro 2020 championship-winning squad.

During his MLS career, the Italian forward recorded 25 goals and 12 assists in 88 appearances — including four goals and four assists in 15 matches this season before deciding to end his North American adventure.
