Tijjani Reijnders joins Man City, another Maluku descendant ready for English league

Tijjani Reijnders, who has Maluku blood through his mother’s Lekatompessy lineage — has officially joined Manchester City from AC Milan in mid-June.

The Dutch national team midfielder shared the influence of Indonesian culture he received since childhood:

“First of all, family is the most important thing in Indonesian culture. That’s what my mother taught us, even by my maternal grandfather. Also to be humble and never feel better than others who might be below you.”

Following Reijnders‘ move to Manchester City — another top Dutch player with Maluku heritage is reportedly set to follow suit to the English Premier League.
