Three Young Indonesian Tennis Players Clinch Titles at the 2025 Detec International Junior Championship

Sukoharjo, Central Java – Indonesia’s young tennis talents had a stellar showing at the 2025 Detec International Junior Championship (DIJC), with three rising stars—Mischka Sinclaire Goenadi, Shinar Zahra Shukayna Heriyadi, and Michal Ihsan Wicaksana—claiming championship titles across several categories.

Competing at the Gelora Merdeka Tennis Complex in Sukoharjo, the trio delivered dominant performances that earned them three out of the four titles contested in the ITF-sanctioned junior event.

Michal Ihsan Clinches First ITF Singles Title of the Year

Eighteen-year-old Michal Ihsan Wicaksana of Kentoeng Tennis Academy secured his first ITF singles title of the season in front of a home crowd. In an all-Indonesian final, he defeated fourth seed Akmal Junaini with a confident 6–4, 6–1 win.

“It was an intense match. Akmal kept fighting regardless of the score,” said Michal.

“I stayed calm and consistent, which helped me finish strong.”

While Akmal showed resilience throughout, he struggled with leg cramps during the second set and required medical attention—making it harder for him to match Michal’s pace.

In the doubles category, Michal partnered with Raphael Rio Suryana but fell short in the semifinals against China’s, Luxuan Xie/Shao Zhang in a tight match: 6–2, 5–7, 7–10. The Chinese pair would go on to lose the final to Taiwan’s, Weibo Huang/Ting-Ho Yang.

Mischka and Shinar Dominate the Girls’ Categories

Indonesia’s dominance extended to the girls’ events, where Mischka Sinclaire Goenadi completed a brilliant campaign with victories in both singles and doubles. Representing Next Gen Tennis Academy Jakarta, Mischka captured her fourth career ITF singles title after defeating China’s, Siyun Xiao, 6–4, 6–4, in the final.

In doubles, she teamed up with longtime friend Shinar Zahra Heriyadi to secure the title over the Indonesian-Chinese duo, Jeanne Lynn Hartono and Jihan Li, winning 6–1, 7–6(4).

“This was our first time playing as a pair, so winning the title is extra special,” said Shinar, who celebrated her first ITF title of the year and fifth overall in doubles.

“We’ve known each other since we were kids. We used to train together in Jakarta, so our chemistry on the court came naturally,” Mischka added.

Tiebreak Test: Strategy and Grit Seal the Win

Despite cruising through the first set, Mischka and Shinar lost momentum in the second. Their early lead was erased as Jeanne and Jihan raised their level and forced a tiebreak.

“We lost focus a bit, and their shots kept finding the lines. It really challenged us,” said Mischka.

“We talked during the break and agreed to step up our aggression in the tiebreak.”

Their bold approach paid off. With sharp volleys and decisive groundstrokes, the Indonesian duo clinched the tiebreak and the championship, capped by a match-winning forehand crosscourt from Mischka.

Looking Ahead: Higher Tournaments and Bigger Goals

Due to ITF regulations, Mischka’s latest doubles title won’t add to her ranking points, as she has already recorded her best five results. Nevertheless, the ACS Jakarta student-athlete is eager to compete at higher-level events to challenge herself further.

“I’ve played once at J200 in Kuala Lumpur. The intensity and shot quality were on another level. It really opened my eyes,” she reflected.

Mischka emphasized the importance of balancing academics and athletics, adding that school commitments prevent her from playing every series.

For Shinar, the goal is clear: to follow up her doubles success with a breakthrough in singles. Currently ranked No. 927 in the world, she will be the top seed at the DIJC’s second series and is aiming for her first ITF singles title.
