Three Indonesian Players in Foreign Clubs Face Setbacks in President’s Cup

According to recent reports, three Indonesian players representing foreign clubs in the 2025 President’s Cup are facing setbacks during the tournament.

PSSI had invited foreign clubs to participate in the event to give Indonesian players the opportunity to perform in front of home crowds. Among the clubs that responded, Oxford United (England) and Port FC (Thailand) brought Indonesian talents to the competition.

Ole Romeny and Marselino Ferdinan represented Oxford United, while Asnawi Mangkualam featured for Port FC. However, their impact was limited during the recently concluded group stage.

Romeny made an early impression by scoring a stunning goal against Arema FC in just the ninth minute. Unfortunately, the celebration was short-lived. The 25-year-old forward suffered an injury following a collision with Arema’s Paulinho, forcing him off the field.

He later shared a photo via Instagram Story, showing his foot in a protective medical boot—a strong indication that he is undergoing recovery and may miss further matches in the tournament.

In the post, Romeny wrote:

“Unlucky moment, but I’ll come back stronger. Thanks for the support!” — expressing optimism despite the injury.

As of now, no official timeline for his return has been confirmed by Oxford United or the tournament organizers.
