Thailand crushed by Uzbekistan in U-17 Asian Cup, coach issues warning

Thailand U-17 national team received a harsh lesson after being defeated by Uzbekistan with a score of 4-1 in the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup match, as reported through Changsuek’s official Instagram account.

The team led by Jadet Melaarp — who came as runners-up in the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup — failed to match Uzbekistan’s systematic play. The Central Asian team’s goals were scored by Sadriddin Khasanov, Nurbek Sarsenbaev, Asilbek Aliev, and Abubakir Shukurullaev, while Thailand only managed to respond through Silva Mexes — a Manchester United academy player.

“The Asian level is not like Southeast Asia. We were nervous when seeing certain things, many new players had to face a strong and aggressive team that plays systematically,” said Melaarp.

“Our football world is truly different from theirs. They have rhythm, system, and individual technique. Their muscles are strong, we are still inferior in this area,” he added.

This defeat serves as a warning for other Southeast Asian teams — including Indonesia U-17 national team who will face South Korea in Group C tonight.
