On Tuesday, July 8 at approximately 18:00 WIB, Taylor Fritz will face Karen Khachanov on the courts of London’s All England Club in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2025. The American player is currently ranked fifth in the ATP standings, while the Russian sits at No. 20.

In the Fritz vs Khachanov matchup, bookmakers’ predictions are fully in favor of the higher-ranked player. A bet on Fritz to win is offered at odds of 1.45, while a Khachanov victory is priced at 3.02. The most likely set score prediction is 3–0 in favor of Fritz, with odds of 3.20. A 3–1 win is priced at 3.50. The average projected total number of games is 39.5, with both over and under bets available at 1.83.

Taylor Fritz

Fritz is being called a dark horse for the Wimbledon title this year. However, he fully deserves to be seen as one of the main favorites. This summer, he already claimed grass-court titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne. Out of 13 matches on this surface, he won 12. The only loss came in the opening round of the London tournament, which he played just one day after winning the Stuttgart final. Notably, last year Fritz also had a strong grass season, reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals — his best Grand Slam result so far.

In this year’s tournament, Fritz defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (ranked 36) of France, Gabriel Diallo (40) of Canada, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (27) of Spain. In the previous round, he advanced without playing after Jordan Thompson (44) of Australia retired in the second set.

Karen Khachanov

The Russian player also previously reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals — back in 2021. However, unlike Fritz, Khachanov has not had particularly successful seasons on grass. In June this year, he made it to the semifinals in Halle.

To reach the quarterfinals, Khachanov defeated Mackenzie McDonald (88) from the USA, Shintaro Mochizuki (144) from Japan, Nuno Borges (37) from Portugal, and Kamil Majchrzak (109) from Poland.

Stats and Head-to-Head Record

These two players last met a while ago — twice on hard courts between late 2019 and early 2020. On both occasions, Khachanov came out on top.

Prediction

Fritz appears to be the clear favorite, not only according to the bookmakers but also based on his results on grass this summer. The only possible issue for him could be fatigue from the number of matches played in recent weeks, as he reached and won two finals. However, his Round of 16 match lasted just 41 minutes, giving him valuable recovery time. Therefore, the recommended bet is a game handicap of -2.5 for Fritz at odds of 1.62.
