Tampa Bay Sun wins USL Women’s Super League after dramatic victory

Cecilie Fløe became Tampa Bay Sun’s hero after scoring the winning goal in the 100th minute that secured their inaugural USL Women’s Super League title — defeating Fort Lauderdale United 1-0.

The goal came through excellent teamwork with Sydny Nasello who managed to beat the defender — providing a perfect pass to Fløe running between two opposing defenders. This marked the Danish international’s 12th goal this season.

Both teams showed impressive performances in the semifinals:

  • Fort Lauderdale United (11-9-9) defeated regular season champions North Carolina Ascent 2-1
  • Tampa Bay Sun (13-6-10) eliminated Dallas Trinity with a 2-1 score

The Super League, which just completed its inaugural season, stands as the highest level of women’s soccer in the United States alongside NWSL. This eight-team competition uses a fall-to-spring season system — set to expand to nine teams next season.
