Takuro Hoki Appointed as Captain of Japan’s Team for Sudirman Cup 2025

According to BadSpi.jp, Japan’s national badminton team has appointed Takuro Hoki as captain and Kie Nakanishi as vice-captain for the upcoming Sudirman Cup 2025, set to take place in Xiamen, China.

The mixed team tournament, which starts next week, will be the first event of the year for the former men’s doubles world number one—after missing the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships two months ago alongside his partner, Yugo Kobayashi.

“I don’t think I have any special role to play as captain, so I’m taking it easy,” said Hoki. “If I’m chosen to play, I’ll do my best with the determination to earn points for Japan.”

“Since this is a team competition, we need to unite as one from our daily activities. It would be great if we could all get along and communicate well,” he added.
