Takayuki Nishigaya dismissed as Thailand U-23 national team coach

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has taken decisive action by dismissing Takayuki Nishigaya from his position as Thailand U-23 national team coach — a decision that comes as the team prepares for the 2025 ASEAN Cup U-23.

The regional tournament is scheduled to take place in Indonesia in mid-July, but the young War Elephants’ performance under Nishigaya’s guidance has failed to meet expectations.

A series of disappointing results became evident during the team’s participation in the Doha Cup in Qatar a few months ago:

• Lost 0-1 against United Arab Emirates
• Suffered a 1-2 defeat to hosts Qatar
• Defeated by Croatia U-23 with a score of 1-3
