Szoboszlai challenges Wirtz for number 10 position at Liverpool

Szoboszlai challenges Wirtz for number 10 position at Liverpool

Florian Wirtz is set to join Liverpool for a transfer fee of 116 million pounds — making him the most expensive player in the club’s history.

The transfer agreement consists of a base fee of 100 million pounds plus 16 million pounds in bonuses agreed between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.

Dominik Szoboszlai, the current occupant of the number 10 position at Liverpool, has responded to Wirtz’s arrival:

“If the club buys a player for 150 million euros, they won’t put him on the bench. However, we need to find a way to play together.”

The Hungarian midfielder added:

“If you say this will be difficult for me, let’s see after pre-season. I don’t give up easily.”

The 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations implemented by coach Arne Slot at Liverpool will make competition for the number 10 position even more intense — involving Wirtz, Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister.
