Szczesny to Extend Barcelona Contract after Successful Season

Szczesny to Extend Barcelona Contract after Successful Season

According to ESPN, Wojciech Szczęsny — the 35-year-old goalkeeper — is set to sign a new contract with Barcelona following his contribution to the club’s domestic treble success last season.

Despite Barcelona signing goalkeeper Joan García from Espanyol for €25 million and still having Marc-André ter Stegen, Szczęsny has decided to extend his stay at the Catalan club.

Szczęsny — who came out of retirement to join Barcelona last October — has made 30 appearances under Hansi Flick, contributing to victories in:

  • LaLiga
  • Copa del Rey
  • Spanish Super Cup

The former Polish international started his career at Arsenal before serving Juventus for seven years until his retirement in early 2024 — a decision he reversed when Barcelona needed his services.

“I am a smoker, but I wouldn’t advise others to follow this habit,” Szczęsny stated in an interview with ESPN.
