Szczesny extends contract with Barcelona until 2027

Wojciech Szczesny has officially extended his contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2027, as announced through the club’s official website.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper — who joined Blaugrana about nine months ago after leaving Juventus — has proven himself as the right choice to replace the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

“Barcelona and Wojciech Szczesny have reached an agreement for contract extension until June 30, 2027,” states the club’s official announcement.

This contract extension decision is interesting — considering that before joining Barcelona, Szczesny had announced his retirement from football for three months.

Despite the break, the Polish goalkeeper’s performance remained solid under Barcelona’s goalposts — which led the club to decide to retain his services longer.
