Surprises in All Japan Amateur Draw: Kento Momota and Nami Matsuyama Return

According to the All Japan Amateur Badminton Championship 2025 draw to be held in Takamatsu, Kagawa — several Japanese badminton big names are ready to enliven the tournament.

The competition scheduled for September 5-10, 2025, serves as a platform for hundreds of amateur players from the Land of the Rising Sun to showcase their abilities. Despite its amateur status, competition is predicted to be intense with the presence of several former elite players.

Some names that have caught attention are Kento Momota, Nami Matsuyama, and former world number one women’s doubles player Sayaka Hirota — who are no longer part of the Badminton Association of Japan (BAJ) national team.

Nami Matsuyama, who remains Japan’s top women’s doubles player alongside Chiharu Shida, becomes a special highlight in this tournament — given her brilliant achievements at the international level.
