Super Formula champion Sho Tsuboi to have first F1 test with Haas

Formula 1 team Haas has confirmed that Super Formula champion Sho Tsuboi will undergo TPC testing with their VF-23 car at Fuji Circuit next month.

The Toyota factory driver will share duties with Haas reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa in the two-day session — marking Tsuboi’s first time behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.

“Thank you to Team Haas and TGR for giving me this wonderful opportunity. Of course, I’m very much looking forward to driving the F1 car. I want to make this the perfect day and take this once-in-a-lifetime chance to make my dreams come true!” Tsuboi wrote on social media.

This opportunity is part of the collaboration between Haas and Toyota — with Hirakawa having driven the team’s car multiple times, including FP1 sessions in Bahrain and Spain this year, while Ritomo Miyata has also completed testing in Jerez.

Tsuboi, who currently leads the Super GT standings and sits third in Super Formula, claimed the Super Formula title last season with TOM’S team after securing three victories at Fuji.
