SunPayus Set to Join G2 Esports’ CS2 Squad

In a surprising turn of event, HEROIC has announced that star player Álvaro “SunPayus” García will join G2 Esports by the end of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 in June.

The move reportedly stems from a conflict of interest, as both teams are competing in Austin. This is a major loss for HEROIC, as the Spanish AWPer has been a key player in their biggest matches.

For G2, this signing is crucial after losing young star Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov to Team Falcons. Before signing SunPayus, G2 temporarily filled the gap with Aleksander “hades” Miśkiewicz.

They also acquired the Finnish head coach Eetu ‘sAw’ Saha, who will replace Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas, and is expected to have greater influence over roster decisions to accelerate G2’s CS2 rebuild.
