Sumardji reveals Indonesia national team dressing room condition after Japan thrashing

Indonesia national team manager Sumardji acknowledged the squad’s dressing room atmosphere was not conducive following their 6-0 thrashing by Japan at Suita City Football Stadium.

The heavy defeat came in the final match of the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers third round Asian Zone — the Red and White team struggled against the host nation’s performance despite facing their reserve players.

Captain Jay Idzes and his teammates failed to contain the attacks led by Wataru Endo, with Indonesia unable to register a single shot on target throughout the match.

“The dressing room condition is certainly not good as our squad became a goal feast,” said Sumardji.
