Steve Nielsen Set to Join Alpine F1 Team as Team Manager

Steve Nielsen, a 60-year-old Formula 1 veteran with experience dating back to 1986 — is in final talks to join the Alpine F1 team as their new team manager.

Nielsen’s F1 career began as a truck driver for a catering company, then evolved through various key positions at leading teams — including Lotus, Tyrrell, Honda, and Arrows.

This appointment comes following Ollie Oakes’ sudden departure from the team last month after the Miami Grand Prix. Flavio Briatore, executive advisor of Alpine’s Formula 1 division, has chosen Nielsen for his extensive experience.

While negotiations are ongoing, there are some complexities regarding FIA licensing — considering Nielsen recently resigned from his position at the governing body about one and a half years ago.
