Stefano Pioli Leaves Al Nassr to Return to Fiorentina

Stefano Pioli has officially parted ways with Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, to return to Italy as the new head coach of Fiorentina.

The experienced 59-year-old coach was appointed by Al Nassr in September 2024, replacing Luis Castro, who was dismissed following a poor start to the season. However, after just nine months in charge, Pioli opted to terminate his contract earlier than expected.

This move marks Pioli’s return to Fiorentina — a club he previously managed between 2017 and 2019. Fiorentina officially presented him as their new head coach on Wednesday (July 16), with a contract lasting three years.

Pioli’s comeback to Serie A is seen as a strategic step for Fiorentina, who are aiming to reestablish themselves among Italy’s top teams after several seasons of inconsistency. Meanwhile, Al Nassr are now in search of a new manager to lead their ambitious project in the Saudi Pro League and Asian competitions.
