Sports Minister pushes PSSI to launch Women’s League with simple format

Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Youth and Sports, has expressed his support for PSSI to promptly establish a Women’s League with a practical and simple format.

This push comes after the Indonesia Women’s National Team — led by Satoru Mohizuki — failed to advance to the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup after finishing third in Group D with three points during qualifiers in Tangerang a few days ago.

An interesting incident occurred when Shafira Ika and teammates displayed a banner reading “Mr. Erick, When Will the Women’s League Be Held?” — which was then confiscated by PSSI staff.

Iris de Rouw and her national team colleagues demonstrated their concern regarding the absence of regular competition that serves as a platform for women’s football development in Indonesia.
