Sporting CP President Hints at Viktor Gyökeres Departure

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has revealed that their star striker Viktor Gyökeres is likely to depart the club in this summer’s transfer window, as reported by A Bola.

This statement comes amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal in the Swedish international striker — who impressed with 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions last season.

“If you ask me today, there is a strong possibility that Viktor will leave,” stated Varandas. “Only the worst agent in the world could scupper his move.”

Varandas drew comparisons with recent major transfers — including Martín Zubimendi’s move to Arsenal and Matheus Cunha, whom he considers of lower quality than the Sporting CP striker.

Gyökeres remains under contract with Sporting CP until June 2028 with a €100 million release clause, while the club maintains firm demands regarding the transfer value for their key player.
