Sporting CP insists Viktor Gyökeres won’t be sold below €70 million

According to ESPN, Viktor Gyökeres has emerged as a target for Manchester United and Arsenal — however, Sporting CP maintains they won’t release their key striker for €70 million.

Portuguese media reports suggest Gyökeres is disappointed with Sporting CP over an alleged breach of transfer agreement worth €60 million plus €10 million in bonuses — significantly below his €100 million release clause.

Sporting CP President Frederico Varandas refuted these claims:

“I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres won’t leave for €60 million plus €10 million because I never promised that. The game his agent is playing is only making the situation worse.”

Varandas emphasized that the club hasn’t received any official offers for the Swedish striker. However, he acknowledged an agreement not to demand the full release clause considering the player’s approaching 27th birthday.

The striker, who joined from Coventry City two years ago, has impressed with 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting CP across all competitions.
