Somkiat Chantra Struggles in MotoGP 2025 Debut, Trails Behind Fellow Rookies

Somkiat Chantra, the Thai rider from LCR Honda Castrol, is facing a tough start to his MotoGP 2025 rookie campaign.

Compared to fellow newcomers Ai Ogura (Aprilia Racing) and Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Racing), Chantra has struggled to keep pace in the opening four races.

  • Ogura has broken into the top 10

  • Aldeguer has already secured a top-five finish

In contrast, Chantra has consistently finished at the lower end of the grid. His latest performance at the Qatar Grand Prix saw him trail race winner Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) by a staggering 38 seconds.

The slow start raises questions about Honda’s RC213V competitiveness and Chantra’s adaptation to the premier class. With many races ahead, fans hope the Thai rider can close the gap and show improvement as the season progresses.
