Six top English League players nominated for PFA Player of the Year

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) has announced six nominations for Player of the Year award — two of them coming from European champions Arsenal.

Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo from Arsenal have impressed this season — Caldentey scored nine goals and five assists in her debut season, while Russo shared the league’s top scorer title with 12 goals.

Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert earned her nomination for her vital role in the team’s domestic treble, while Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce recorded an impressive 13 clean sheets.

Manchester City duo — Yui Hasegawa and Mary Fowler — complete the nomination list. Fowler contributed six goals and seven assists before injury, while Hasegawa was selected for the PFA Team of the Year.

The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards at Manchester Opera House on August 19.
