Six New Sports Officially Join Indonesian Olympic Committee

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC) today officially inducted six new sports as members during an Extraordinary Meeting in Jakarta.

The six organizations joining NOC Indonesia include:

  • Indonesian Tug of War Association (POTTI)
  • Indonesian Boxing Board (PERBATI)
  • Indonesia Ping Pong League (IPL)
  • Indonesian Flying Disc Players (PPPTI)
  • Indonesian Camel Sports Association (POUI)
  • Indonesian Lacrosse Federation (FLI)

Raja Sapta Oktohari as Chairman of NOC Indonesia emphasized the importance of alignment with international sports governance.

“Every decision made is not merely a personal decision, but it’s an IOC directive and we cannot separate from world sports governance,” stated Raja Sapta.

“Every step, every method we implement, is nothing but for the Red and White,” he added.

Several of these new sports — including tug of war which is traditionally contested during independence celebrations — will begin competing in multi-event games this year.
