Singapore struggles to find new coach after Tsutomu Ogura’s departure

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is facing a dilemma in their search for a new head coach following Tsutomu Ogura’s departure two months ago.

Ogura — who became the third consecutive Japanese coach after Tatsuma Yoshida and Takayuki Nishigaya — only lasted one year leading The Lions.

Currently, Gavin Lee has been appointed as interim coach to lead the national team competing in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Singapore — captained by Hariss Harun — sits in Group C with four points, level with Hong Kong.

Finding a permanent coach becomes a priority as the team continues their qualification campaign against India this October, where only group winners will advance to the finals.
