Shock in Frankfurt: German Team Eliminates England’s Top Seeds in Darts World Cup

England’s top seeds Luke Littler and Luke Humphries succumbed to host nation Germany in the second round of the Darts World Cup in Frankfurt.

The English duo, fresh from receiving MBE honors from King Charles — suffered a surprising 8-4 defeat against Germany’s Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko.

The match proved challenging for the English team from the start — hostile crowd reactions led to them losing the opening leg. Despite leveling at 2-2, struggles with outer ring throws allowed Germany to establish a 7-5 lead.

“We believed in ourselves and put in a solid performance, Ricardo’s double 16s were so important,” said Schindler. “We are delighted to go through. German darts is in good shape right now and we will continue to push forward.”
