Shin Tae-yong — former Indonesia national team coach and current vice president of the Korean Football Association (KFA) — has responded to Indonesia U-17’s victory over South Korea in the 2025 AFC U-17 Cup.

The match at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal, Jeddah — ended with a 1-0 victory for the Asian Garuda team through Evandra Florasta’s penalty goal in the closing stages of the second half.

Throughout the game, South Korea dominated possession but failed to break through Indonesia’s solid defensive strategy.

“I think South Korean football hasn’t declined. In the match against Indonesia U-17, South Korea was just unlucky not to score,” Shin Tae-yong told News Daily.

In his new KFA role, Shin Tae-yong has been tasked by KFA President Chung Mong-gyu to develop relationships with international football federations, while national team matters are now under Park Hang-seo’s supervision.
