Shane van Gisbergen makes new history on Chicago street circuit

Shane van Gisbergen continues his dominance on Chicago street circuit with a historic double victory. The New Zealand driver has won four out of five races he’s entered on this circuit, both in Xfinity and Cup Series.

This latest victory puts van Gisbergen alongside Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Christopher Bell — becoming drivers with multiple wins this season. This achievement also makes him Trackhouse Racing’s most successful driver in 2025, surpassing teammate Ross Chastain who has only one victory.

Van Gisbergen’s achievements set several historic records:

• Most successful foreign driver in NASCAR Cup Series with three victories
• First rookie with multiple wins since Denny Hamlin era 19 years ago
• Reached three victories in first 33 starts — a feat only matched by Jimmie Johnson
• Secured pole position and victory in both weekend races — matching Kyle Busch’s Indianapolis record
