Shane van Gisbergen Dominates NASCAR Qualifying at Mexico City Street Circuit

Shane van Gisbergen demonstrated remarkable dominance in NASCAR qualifying at Mexico City Street Circuit — leading by nearly half a second over his closest competitor. His Spire Motorsports teammate Michael McDowell will join him on the front row.

“That was epic,” said van Gisbergen. “The WeatherTech Chevy is driving good. I’m a lucky boy getting great cars today — Xfinity pole and Cup pole. It’s pretty special. Looking forward to the race tomorrow.”

Carson Hocevar secured third position, followed by Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe in fourth and fifth places.

The qualifying session saw several incidents — Noah Gragson hit the wall damaging a toe-link, while Bubba Wallace spun twice with one resulting in contact with tire barriers. Brad Keselowski also had a minor collision at Turn 7.

Drama unfolded in the battle for final grid positions between Katherine Legge and Corey Heim. Legge secured her spot by 0.138 seconds — an impressive achievement for the part-time driver.

William Byron, Chase Elliott, and Denny Hamlin did not participate in qualifying due to technical issues during practice sessions.
