Shane van Gisbergen Claims NASCAR Pole Position Amid Rain

Shane van Gisbergen secured pole position after setting a lap time of 1:32.776 in the No. 88 Chevrolet — a time that remained unbeaten throughout the qualifying session.

Ryan Preece from RFK Racing will join him on the front row, finishing 0.064 seconds behind the pole time. Van Gisbergen’s teammate, Ross Chastain, claimed third position.

“We made some big swings last night. Our No. 88 Safety Culture Chevrolet was a bit better,” said van Gisbergen. “We had a lot more front grip, which is what I needed. Though my laps were average, the car showed good speed today.”

The 45-minute qualifying session saw several incidents — Katherine Legge experienced a spin without serious damage, while Preece also spun after setting his fast lap.

Light rain forced NASCAR to halt the qualifying session with 17 minutes remaining. Ty Gibbs and Michael McDowell completed the top five, followed by Kyle Larson, Todd Gilliland, A.J. Allmendinger, Joey Logano, and Daniel Suarez in positions six through ten.
