Shane van Gisbergen claims fourth consecutive NASCAR pole at Sonoma

Shane van Gisbergen continues his qualifying dominance in NASCAR by securing his fourth consecutive pole position at Sonoma. The Trackhouse Racing driver delivered an impressive performance in the Red Bull-sponsored No. 88 Chevrolet.

“I’m shaking,” van Gisbergen expressed after claiming pole. “That was pretty full-on. I’m stoked to have Red Bull on the car. Thank you to Trackhouse and Chevy — amazing car. We weren’t very good in practice. New tires fixed it.”

The New Zealand native will share the front row with Chase Briscoe, who finished 0.250 seconds behind. The top five starting positions include:

  • William Byron
  • Ross Chastain
  • A.J. Allmendinger

This achievement also marks the first pole position for a NASCAR Cup car with Red Bull as primary sponsor since Kasey Kahne at Atlanta nearly 14 years ago.

The qualifying session proceeded smoothly without major incidents. Van Gisbergen secured pole position with a time of 1:14.594 in group B — outpacing his rivals’ final attempts as they failed to improve their times.
