Sergio Perez reveals Red Bull’s regret after his dismissal

Sergio Perez reveals that Red Bull contributed to creating an unhealthy environment around his garage during the second half of the 2024 Formula 1 season — putting unnecessary pressure to deliver results.

In an interview with former driver Memo Rojas Jr, Perez highlighted that Red Bull failed to protect him despite knowing the difficulties in car development.

“In the end, that’s how the sport is. Decisions were made because of too much pressure that they created themselves,” Perez stated on the Desde el Paddock podcast.

Despite having a signed contract in Monaco, speculation about his future emerged at every race — the team made no effort to quell rumors by confirming his contract status.

After Perez’s departure, Red Bull struggled with his replacements. Both Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda failed to achieve expected points targets, following Perez’s pattern of difficulty matching teammate Max Verstappen’s results.

Sergio Perez also revealed the impact of designer Adrian Newey’s departure to Aston Martin — affecting car development and overall team performance.
