Sergio Garcia fired from Moto2 team ahead of Italian GP

According to Motorsport.com, Sergio Garcia has officially parted ways with QJMotor-FRINSA-MSI team by mutual agreement — just before the ninth round of Italian GP at Mugello Circuit.

This decision stands in stark contrast to the Burriana, Spain native’s performance last season — when he led the Moto2 standings with two victories and three podiums in the first eight races.

“Sergio is a hard worker, I’m happy with how he rides the bike, he is a very good rider,” stated Fabio Quartararo while recommending Garcia for the Pramac team last year.

However, Garcia’s fortune changed dramatically — after failing to secure a MotoGP seat with Yamaha who opted for Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller, his performance declined significantly with only 34 points from the last 15 races of 2024.

The 2025 season further worsened Garcia’s situation — he missed the first four opening rounds due to injury and only managed to score three points from his sole points finish at the French GP.
