Malaysian men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik suffered a surprising defeat in the round of 32 at the Japan Open 2025 held at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

The tournament’s second seeds fell to fellow Malaysians Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi — an independent pair not affiliated with the national training program.

The match concluded swiftly in just 30 minutes — Chia/Soh surrendered in straight games with a score of 15-21 in the first game.

Competition intensified in the second game as both pairs engaged in a point battle until 9-9. Though Chia/Soh briefly led 10-9, Ong/Teo managed to turn the tide to 11-10 with two consecutive points.
