Sebastian Vettel in talks to replace Helmut Marko at Red Bull F1

Four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel reveals he is in early talks with Helmut Marko about potentially succeeding him as Red Bull F1 team advisor — Marko’s contract expires at the end of 2026.

Marko, who joined Red Bull at the start of their F1 journey in 2005 — has been a key figure in team decision-making, particularly regarding driver selection and young driver programs.

“There have been some talks, and I still get on really well with Helmut. We’re in contact about this, though maybe not so intensively or in-depth yet, but it’s possible,” said Vettel.

Responding to talks with Vettel, Marko told Kleine Zeitung that the long-term succession decision lies with the company’s shareholders.

“We’re not talking specifically about the position, but Sebastian is keeping a very close eye on everything,” Marko stated.

Vettel, who retired from F1 at the end of 2022, admits he still follows the sport — focusing more on driver dynamics and psychology rather than technical race details.
